Zumbathon

This pass Saturday I did the 3 hour Zumbathon, for ECR Toy Story. We Raised about R6000 and about 5 black bags full of toys for the children for Christmas.

It rained the whole week, and we were hoping mother nature would be on our side, no such luck, it rained on Saturday as well.

we had about 50 odd Ladies there,it was great fun, it was a double bonus, it was for a great cause as well we got a workout too.

I didn't go weigh this weekend as I had to be at the rugby club at 7:30am. So but I will be weighing in this Saturday Morning.
I am getting bored, I am trying to come up with new recipes and push pass this point, as this is the point where I would normally throw in the towel and give up.
And I refuse to give up. I will lose the weight I need to lose.

So until next week.

So far a Total loss of 5.4 kg’s……

Well the past 5 weeks, I have lost a total of 5.4kg’s, this weekend the wheels fell off, but I am back on track again.  I heared a very good saying today, “a runner can’t run while looking be hide him, he looks forward.” So what is done in the past is done, and no use looking back all the time, as it is going to slow or stop us from moving forward.
Got 3 hour zumbathon this Saturday, to help raise money for ECR Toy story and get fit at the same time. One doesn’t have to do all 3 hours, you can do as much as you want and stop and start as well. Looking forward to it. Hope to get the energy levels up and the weight down some more too.
For some reason this week has been hard claiming back on to the wagon.
But I am taking one day at a time. I like get the weightless e-club newsletters and I saw the success stories. Blow away on the amount of weight people have lost. And yesterday on my way home, hear Jane lanely Thomas talk about her 18 kg weight loss. It can be done.
Good luck and chat soon.
Yummy mummy.

Saturday’s Weigh In…. 2.4 kg loss
After the week I had, I didn’t want to face the scale. But I am glad I did. I got a very super surprise when I saw I had lost 2.4kg’s!!!.  I must confuse I was about 80% good last week and didn’t expect such a great lost, especially since I was pumped full of Meds after the D& c and having the flu.
Every gram down for me is a victory and a step closer for me to being healthier for me to have my baby number 2.
I am feeling better. And I hope this week is a good week too. I can feel in my clothes are feeling loose and I am drinking all my water. I am waking up in the morning feeling a lot more refreshed and fill of energy.
I haven’t started exercising yet, but I plan to start this weekend.
Remember
“Fail to plan, plan to fail.”

A lost….

I know I am a very bad blogger. My aim in for once a week, to Blog if I can do more I will.
These past few weeks have been really hard for me. I had a miscarriage, I found out on Friday the 7th October that the embry0 didn’t survive and died at 7 weeks and 6 days. Not sure why, and the test that were done had no answer either.
It has been an emotional week and a half. I have my good days and bad.
you see:
We found out when I was first pregnant with my daughter we found out that I am O negative, and my hubby is O positive, so once I had my daughter I had to have an anti-D injection, as my daughters  blood was tested and hers was positive, so I was given the injection to stop my blood making anti-bodies against O positive blood. Here is a website link which explains it better. http://pregnancy.about.com/od/rhfactor/a/Rh-Factor-in-Pregnancy.htm
So when we went at 7 wks. And 2 days everything was fine and I had the odd brown discharged which I have had before, but last week Thursday I was feeling achy, had abit of a fever and had lower back pain. And wasn’t happy something felt a miss. And that is why I went into see him. And there was no heart beat and it only measured 7 wks. 6 days, so It died before 8 wks. He also checked for blood flow and there was no blood flow going to the embryo either. So he booked me in for that Friday evening, 5pm I was in theatre and had the D&c.  And was released about 2 or so hours later to go home. Once I had gone to the loo and had eaten. I was in a lot of pain on the weekend, my body was very sore and everywhere . It felt like I was in a wrestling match and came off 2nd best.

I had my check up and the Dr seemed quite positive that we will be able to have another baby.  And is happy with everything too.
I am quite scared to try again, in case it happens again. But in the meantime while I let my body heal, I am making sure I take care of myself over the next few months to get all fit and healthy for when we try again.

+ Positive Pregnancy Test Result.

What a feeling!!, Hello yes we are excited and scared, wondering what have we done???
Yippy Mamma Bear is Pregnant for a 2nd time.  I have had my sups ions for a few days now, but need the confirmation first. We found out on Saturday, with a home test and then off to the path lab, to be 100% sure with a blood test. And it was positive.

Now we are all very happy and taking things easy, making sure I still eat healthy just now, on the different end of the scale baby’s health is the important issue here.
Mamma bear ( me) not doing to great caught a cold, so trying to get rid of it without taking meds, all I am allowed is panado, saline spray for the nose and a special cough spyry you can take when you preggies.
Well I type this blog, I feel absolute crap. But can’t let too much no, as work has no idea what is going one, we waiting until 12 weeks, before we tell my work.
I am hoping things will improve as the weeks and month more along. Otherwise it is going to be a very long 9 months for sure.
I got a healthy eating plan designed for pregnant woman.
I know this is a speed hump in the road, but now this blog as a different angle on weight gain and weigh loss.
Believe you I learnt my lesson in my first pregnancy, and I still have 7 odd kg’s of that pregnancy still on me.
I hope you will stay and share my new journey with me, a slight detour but at the end we will met up with the weight loss highway we all travel on.
I saw this and wanted to share with you:
“Chocolate Mousse or Skinny Jeans – You decide?”

Cheers for now.

Allergic reaction

Well Yesterday, I went and had blood taken, 5 viles later. To try and find out what is causing these allergic reactions.  They said it will take a week to get the results, so fingers crossed that I can get some answers.
Been suffering with this on and off now since 2006. As it is irregular,so it has been and is hard to pin point down from what. I know certain meds I can take, but it happens even if I haven’t take those meds. I am left with more Questions then answers.
And the Doc said there is a 50/50 chance we will find out or not.
So here is wishing me luck.
Will keep you posted.

Weight loss

On the total AWESOME side of things I have lost a total of 5.8kg’s so far. My CM’s I still have to measure but I am so happy I could SH$% rainbows. ;-)
Still lots to go, but baby steps and we will get there. Taking each day, and each meal at a time.
My Microwave is dead, so I am now using my 2 layer steamer, which is okay, just a pain to clean.
Made such a nice vegetable pizza, last night, with loads of vegetables, I tend to just “fry” more like boil, my mushrooms with abit of water to help the cooking process along, before putting them on the pizza. It was so yummy. And had none of those  unhappy feelings afterwards either.
Until next time.

The Weekend away and the Prawn Shack

Friday the 26Th – all packed, Made sure all of my LG) Little Girl) stuff is all packed to stay and Granny and Grandpa for the Weekend. Okay it is only one night, but still you worry and you have to pack for anything that could or might happen.
Saturday the 27Th -  We were up very early, packed the bakkie, said our good byes and we were on our way, stopped off to get something to eat for brekky, and on the road.
The weather was cold and raining. No sun in sight.
We arrived to our B & B and got all settled, everyone arrived and at 11:30am we were all there and left to go to the Prawn Shack.  We had our welcome drinks got all settled and enjoyed our lazy Lunch which only finished at about 5pm. And we were all collected and on our way home at about 6:30pm. And Murphy Law, as we were about to leave the heaven opened and the rained poured down.
We got home after our 45min drive, and started the braai’s and etc.
We all had a great time, I sneaked off to bed by 11ish, and I was finished after beening up so early in the morning.
Sunday Morning, we were up so early again, not by choice, but the Ducks had other plans and they were making such a noise, one had no choice to wake up. If I can call it waking up, didn’t sleep very well at all.  It was a very Rustic place we stayed in. A framed grass cabins, with 2 beds with a thin mattress.  So after waking up had 2 cups of coffee and waited for everyone to wake up and wait for Breakfast to be served.
We ate brekkie and then we packed up and went home. and just vegged on the couch for the rest of Sunday.

Specialist Visit

Made my way my way to his office. I was very nerves and excited to get some answers. I hate hosptials and his offices were in the hosptial. On what is causing this tongue swelling and other problems I seem to be getting and no one’s seems to know what is going on.
So he is what he said:  that I have Allergic Oedema. Basically I swell up from an allergic reaction. He said I have like a 50/50 chance of finding out what causes it, some people never do. At the moment I am staying away from the medications that I have had a reaction too. I am trying to keep things as simple as possible.
He has ordered Blood test, which I will go and visit the Vampires on Friday after work or maybe sooner to get them done. Once that is done we will just have to wait and see what they tell us.
It is quite scary not knowing what is causing it, it is like Russian relent every time I take something or eat something, never knowing if this is going to be the one item that is going to cause swelling.
Until next time.
Be a Yummy Mummy.

Wonderfull Food and Summer Time

I love food; I love everything about it, the way it tastes and the way it makes you feel.
And I am learning every day, that food is not bad for you, you need to play around with recipes and dishes, and make them work for you, in a more healthy way. Not loaded with calories and loads of fat.
Making small changes that are making a bit difference, drinking rooibos tea instead of regular tea, changing from Full Cream to low fat or skim milk.  Grilling instead of frying.
And I can see this spring and summer, we are going to be doing a lot of Grilling, Hubby just brought a gas braai for outside, so on those hot summer evenings, we can sit outside on our sundeck and have a healthy and light dinner. Great for the soul and waistline.
Our pool is looking good all ready for summer too. Made a personal note to make sure I spend more time swimming this spring and summer. Helps with ones tan as well great for overall workout.
Such exciting times ahead. Talking about exciting times, I never told you what  I got for my Woman’s Day gift , and it has been wonderful, I got a 7Inch Galaxy tablet, what a beaut. Been doing all kinds of App to help me, calorie counter, workout log, convert app etc. you name it I most likely downloaded it.
Just counting the days until I received my Blackberry, got about a week to go, getting rather excited. Girls and our toys.
You must try the 30day health muffin recipe it is yummy.
Take care.
Yummy mummy.

Balancing Act.

Things are all upside down. I have either been man down with the flu or been having allergic reactions to what I have no idea. Tongue swelling and hand and feet. Going to see a specialist this week, have on idea what is causing it, I have not eaten or taken anything I haven't had before.

I have had to go back to basics, and plan each meal and day at a time and introduce exercise slowly again. I have been doing 15mins on the bike a day, and slowly increase each work out by 2 mins. Taking things slowly, as I don't want to relapse and end up getting sick and then I am man down for another 2 weeks.

Gail's blog has been a great motivational tool for me. After reading her blogs, I get the extra push I need to get into action. So thanks Gail.

We are going away this weekend to the Prawn Shack, looking forward to the get away, not sure how many points the lazy lunch at the Prawn shack is going to be, but I am sure trying to save points, with exercising and eating light this week.

see ya .

Beef and Bean Chili

Beef and Bean Chili
From the Recipe exchange at http://www.weight-watchers.com/
From The Weight Watchers Complete Cookbook and Program Basics
7.5 Points Per Serving

1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon olive oil
1 cup onions, chopped
1/2 cup carrot, chopped
1/4 cup celery, chopped
1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
2 teaspoons garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon seeded jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
10 ounces extra-lean ground beef, 10% or less fat
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
2 cups canned plum tomatoes with juice, chopped
16 ounces cooked pinto or kidney beans, rinsed, drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch pepper
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 cup nonfat sour cream
1/4 cup chopped red onion
Chopped fresh cilantro

1. In large saucepan, heat oil; add onions, carrot, celery, bell pepper, garlic and jalapeno. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion is translucent, about 15 minutes.
2. Add beef, breaking it up with a wooden spoon; saut'e until no longer pink, about 2-3 minutes. Add chili powder, cumin, oregano and coriander, cook and stir 1 minute.
3. Add tomatoes, beans, salt and pepper; reduce heat to low and simmer gently, partially covered, 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in cilantro before serving. Top each serving with 1 tablespoon each of sour cream, red onion and come cilantro.
Makes 4 Servings
Each serving (1 cup) provides: 1 F, 2 V, 2 P, 2 B, 10 opt calories
Per serving: 388 calories, 27 g Protein, 13 g Fat, 43 g Carbohydrate, 566 mg Sodium, 44 mg Cholesterol, 7 g Dietary Fiber
Since there are a lot of ingredients to measure out, which is time consuming, I always double this recipe and freeze individual dinners for later. I do cook it differently. I completely cook the ground beef in a separate pan, drain the fat, then add the cooked beef to the cooked vegetables. I also use regular canned peeled tomatoes instead of canned plum tomatoes because plum tomatoes are so expensive. I also use 2 Tablespoons chili powder instead of 1 T like the recipe calls for, and I add an 8-ounce can of tomato sauce or paste. I also use a whole bell pepper. (I use kidney beans). You will have to make it and adjust ingredients to your taste.

30 Day Muffins (Makes 50 muffins)

Here is a muffin mix that you can prepare when you have a moment, then store it in your fridge for up to 30 days. Whenever you feel like having a fresh muffin, pour some of the mixture into a muffin pan, add some extras (optional) and whip it into the oven. Enjoy!

200g Bran
10 cups Nutty Wheat
2 litres Milk

20ml Vanilla Essence
Method
1. Beat the eggs and oil together until well emulsified.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix until well combined.

ZUMBA

What is great fun. I have done about 4 classes, so far and I am enjoying them.
Not as boring as a normally aerobics class, and a lot more fun than a gym for sure.

What is so great there are woman of all different size and shapes there, we have a blast.
I need to work on my two left feet. I got with a bunch of mates and we have a good workout and a great laugh as well.

Even though I have been to 4 classes, I can feel the difference compared to when I first went, I am lasting longer and working up a sweat. And listening to great music at the same time.

Keep Skinny

Sorry I Have note Blogged….

What a wild and hectic few weeks, makes you realise how short life is and how you need to hold on to it with both hands.

Where do I begin, I guess in the beginning would be a good place to start.
My hubby’s Gran passed away, and we had all the family from far and near camping out at our place. So those two weeks everything went out the window, I tried my best to stick to my points and etc.

Then I was man down for a week with this terrible flu, as well as my daughter two, it was not fun at all. No rest when you also have a sick child to take care of too. Then back to work....
After beginning off work for a whole week, even if it was due to having the flu, I then returned, and battled through all the back log and etc. It is funny how when you off sick your co workers, don’t bother leading a hand, but when you are on leave, they do your work like a pro, no mistakes and etc.

After returning to work for a week and catching up, fixing the mistakes and etc,
I then had my week’s LEAVE, which was much welcomed. Did all my yearly checks.
Which lead to my SHOCK HORROR, news I received from the DR. I was not a Happy.

You see I have been having these heart palpations and they come and go no new meds and etc. so the Dr wanted to run some blood test, as everything sounds normal. So off I went to go visit the “vampires” and let them take the blood they need for the test.

After 5 very long days, for the test results, and they came in, everything is normal expect for my Cholesterol, that is high 6.6 and the Dr is not happy. So now I have 3 month to get it down, otherwise I will have to go on to Medication, which I don’t really want to do, as Hubby and I are wanting to try for baby 2, and you cant take this medication when you are pregnant. So I am hoping this new eating plan which I have also make sure stays in with my daily points helps bring down my Cholesterol.

That has basically been my last 6 or so weeks in a nut shell. Weight has stayed the same and no gains for loses, but all is understandable for all that has happened.
So now I push forward.

So until next time.
Keep Skinny.

Stayed the same

Went to weigh last Saturday, and I stayed the same, which I was happy with, I have started exercising more and did my first Zumba class last night, what a laugh, so fast pace, but I am sure as soon as I get the hang of it, it will be easier to follow.
been very strict with my points, counting every gram, hope this week, it all pays off.
got to get my health into order, been getting heart palpitations, so off to the Dr in June to get it all checked out.
out keep time, keeping is skinny.:-)

Friday 20 May 2011

Things are looking good.

Sorry I have not Blogged, life has had a few curve balls lately, but the weight and the mind set , seem to be in the right place.
I lost 1.2kg’s two weeks ago , but I didn’t go weigh last week, reason because I just didn’t feel like it. But have had a good week and will be going tomorrow.

My work is moving, so going to have to rearrange my life, going to have to be getting up lot earlier than normal and etc; life is going to be upside down until we get into the swing of things again that is for sure.

Been doing my exercise DVD and I can feel the a change.
Been wanting to try ZUMBA, so next week, I am going to be throwing that into the exercise mix, and see how I go.

Well that is all for now, I will blog this weekend and fill you in on my weigh in.

Also got some recipes I want to post as well.

Cheers for now.

Another gain, Epic Fail….

.8 up this week, 2 weeks in a row, I got told don’t lose hope; it is my body trying to figure out what is going on, with me starting to exercise. Well, Hello I am also trying to figure what is going on. I am watching my portion sizes and exercising and still my weight is going in the wrong direction.
I am working hard for a loss this week; I am crossing my fingers and toes that all this hard work is going to pay off soon.
Everything is taking time the cm’s are coming down slowly, still cant fit into most of my clothes.
I am just feeling rather low point at the moment.
Chat soon.

Wednesday 20 April 2011

My Body yelled "‘WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO ME!! STOP!!”

Just started doing the exercise DVD called 30 day shed by Jillian Michaels, Hello it is hard. Now I know why they say you can lost about 10 kg’s in 30days doing this video.
I am a beginner so I am  on Level 1, well she asks all to start on level 1, after my first day  of doing this video those 20mins felt like forever and my body was screaming at me, ‘WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO ME!! STOP!! but I carried on and feel happy I did a step closer to the skinny me.
If I was pregnant (which I am not) I would say I am like in this nesting or spring cleaning mode, or should I say winter cleaning mode. Getting rid of all the clutter in my house and life and weight is clutter, you can’t function at your best when you carrying around the extra weight (clutter) on your body. So tonight will be Day 2, and let’s see how we go. One day at a time.
I have taken down my measurements and current weight and at the end of the 30 day Shed I will take my  measurements again and see how much I have lost, in cms and weight.
I will post the measurements tomorrow and my weight you can see on the tracker on this page. So there is no cheating I promise.

Week 3

Week 3

Welcome to Week 3.
Started on a bad note, my hubby as away this weekend, and on Friday night I was up most of the night with a sick daughter. But Went to weight in on Saturday and was .4 down. Not as much as I wanted to lose, but I was happy it was a lost and not a gain.
I have noted on a happier note my clothes are feeling looser which is a good sign, now we just need the kg’s to follow.

The rest of the weekend was a blur, due to the huge lack of sleep, taking care of a sick child; I didn’t keep track of my points.

I am back in full force this week. And hope to have a better lost this week. And hope not to eat too many of those chocolate Easter eggs.

Got my exercise DVD, 30 day shed, with Julian Michaels, I believe it is brilliant, so I received this weekend, and going to give it a go, to night.

Will update on how it was, I believe it is a full body work out in 28 mins.

Got everything ready for tonight, wish me luck.

Until next time.

Yummy Mum.

Tuesday 12 April 2011

On to Kick Ass Week 2. (14 weeks to go = 90 days)

Kick Ass week 1 didn’t go as planned, got the flu, so exercise was out. But who knows how many points the cough mixture and strepsils were that I kept taking.
As I result I gain.0.8 grams this week.

I am Challenge myself to lose as much as I can in the next 90days. Goal Date is the 9th of July 2011.

The penny has dropped so to speak and I am taking one day and one meal at a time, I am planning and have found this new sense of excitement.

With the flu now almost gone, eating under a very watchful eye, I shall starting exercising again, but this time at a slow rate than before and hopefully I shall not get sick again. I am normally out the starting blocks running, where I think walking and working my way up will be a lot better. So to speak

I am still drinking my 2.5 litres of water a day, and mixing things up abit in the food department. Let’s hope all this hard work and planning pays off on Saturday with my weigh in.

Until next time,
Yummy Mum

Monday 4 April 2011

Let's begin Kick Ass Week 1

As I sit here on a Monday morning hanging my head in shame, I didn’t go weigh on Saturday, to be totally honest,  I just couldn’t, not like I had a bad week, I just needed to have a break. I was tired and my daughter had me up most the night so I chose to lay in abit then waking up early and waking my not so well daughter up to go weigh.

I was pretty good this weekend, and even at a wedding I was good. I hurt myself as well this weekend, fell off a chair or should I say the chair moved away from me and I laid on the floor, so now I have a sore back too.

To top my start of the week, my chair at work is broken, just wont stay up, and I realised that everyone else’s chairs are working fine, why mine, cause I am the heavies person in our office, and with shame and quietness, I swooped my chair with someone else chair this morning. Too embarrassed for people to know.

So today and bit of this weekend hasn’t started all that great. And I am going to change that around and have a positive week and a great weigh in on Saturday.

I should be getting my Weight Watchers Recipe book later this week, cant wait.
This week I am not going to be going skipping, due to my very sore back, so I have decided to do some cycling and ab and arm working this week.

Sorry today is a day of bitching and negative energy. But this week is going to be a kick ass week and the weeks to come after this, so here is to Kick Ass Week 1.
Catch up with you all later this week.

Cheers for now
Yummy Mum,

Where to find time to Exercise???

Where to find time to Exercise, an excuse we all have use, I know I have many time used.
I just read the most motivating story in the Shape Mag this Month, of a lady who lost 45kg’s, and there was that word EXERCISE. As much as we would all hate to admit it, we need EXERCISE and healthy eating to help us get to our goal.
So I have started skipping, WOW talk away lets see how unfit you are, skip for 5 minutes, Hello I am not 6 years old anymore, and lasting 5 minutes solid it hard.
So I skip fast for a min and then slow skip for the next and I do this until I have made up my 5 minutes of skipping, not easy in the least bit. But I am working on it.
And soon the extra tyre will be gone and I will be fitting into the smaller clothes too.
I have to keep reminding my self baby steps, I didn’t gain this weight over night, so I am not going to lose it over night either, as nice as that would be.
I have ordered a Weight Watchers Cookbook, so as soon as I have received it, I will some recipes, and I will let you know how they taste.
So Until Saturday, which is my weight in day, Have an Awesome week.

See you Saturday
 Yummy Mum.

Tuesday 29 March 2011

Back to the Beginning

After hearing some very sad news this weekend and also reading my local Fitness Mag, the light blub has finally come on.
Life is too short to waste, and I have been wasting time and wasting money in the same time.

I have had my daughter now 19 Months ago and have only lost 10kg’s of the baby weight, still have 8kg’s of the baby weight to lose, and another 36kg’s on top of that to lose to get my goal weight.

I joined Weight Watchers in Oct last year and have to be totally honest have not followed it correctly.  And now after having my light blub moment, I am working towards my goal. Weight loss is not the only thing on the cards, we also want to have baby number 2 as well, and I want to lose my extra weight to ensure or try to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

So I have just paid for my Next 14 weeks of Weight Watchers, and when these 14 weeks are over I want to be less my first 10kg’s. Which I am pretty sure is possible.
That is about 0.7grams a week.

So each week, I will fill you in how my week has been and what my weight loss it.
I am also going to attach a weight loss tracker as well.

So here is to the new slimmer and healthier me.

So Let week 1 begin ……

Wednesday 16 March 2011
